WWE now moves to its post-SummerSlam phase and will hold the Extreme Rules PPV on 26th September in Columbus, Ohio. The PPV is known for its gimmick matches and the 2021 edition will be no different. The fight card is still under development but as things stand four title fights are locked and loaded for the PPV. So let’s take a look at some of the fights that you shouldn’t miss.
1. Roman Reigns (C) VS Finn Balor, Universal Title Fight

Roman Reigns and Finn Balor took each other on in Smackdown, in which Reigns picked up a questionable win over the title contender which led to Balor turning himself into “The Demon”. After holding the universal title for more than a year now, it feels like the walls are slowly starting to close for the Head of the Table. Not only is he facing the task of defending his championship against Baylor’s new Demon persona, but Reigns also has to look out for Brock Lesnar who recently returned to WWE and has his eyes set on the Universal title. Whatever may the result be, this fight is a must-watch because it might be the end of Reigns’ long-lasting run as the Universal Champion.
2. Becky Lynch (C) VS Bianca Belair, SmackDown Women’s Championship

Becky Lynch who was out of the WWE universe for a brief period due to personal reasons made her return at WWE’s SummerSlam PPV and she marked that return in style. It took Becky less than thirty seconds to beat Bianca Belair and become the SmackDown champion once again. The situation was completely unsatisfying for Bianca and there was no doubt whether a rematch would take place. Soon, it was announced that the duo will face each other in WWE’s next PPV. This matchup between the two is one that should bring the best out of both the fighters and is simply something any WWE fan should not miss.
3. Charlotte Flair (C) VS Alexa Bliss, Raw Women’s Championship

After months of having issues with Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H, Charlotte Flair has finally moved past them and will take on Alexa Bliss to defend her Raw Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules. Bliss made her way into this fight by becoming the #1 contender, moving her new character of a witch with a haunted doll, up the charts. Her doll runs the risk of drifting into something silly and absurd, like the last time out on Raw where her doll winked at her opponent Doudrop, which helped Bliss win the fight. We reckon it is very possible that her “haunted” doll could play an important role in the title fight and possibly be the reason Bliss becomes a WWE Champion.
4. Damian Priest (C) VS Sheamus VS Jeff Hardy, United States Championship

A triple threat match at Extreme Rules is something every WWE fan wants to watch. Damian Priest who won the title against Sheamus at SummerSlam will have to defend it against the same opponent and Jeff Hardy. Since becoming the Champion, Priest has been fearless, offering up several open challenges which is exactly the opposite of what Sheamus did during his time as a WWE Champion. The rematch was confirmed when Sheamus defeated Drew McIntyre in a match to determine Priest’s opponent for the PPV. Jeff Hardy made his way into the fight after he defeated Sheamus on Raw and turned it into a triple threat fight which you definitely should not miss.
5. Big E (C) VS Bobby Lashley, WWE Championship

The fight between Big E and Bobby Lashley has not been confirmed yet but as we approach the PPV it seems more likely that this fight will take place. It all began when Big E cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on Raw beating Lashley just moments after his title fight against Randy Orton. Lashley was injured when Big E cashed in and it’s easy to say that the situation played up for why Lashley should get a rematch.
At SummerSlam, Lashley choked out Goldberg’s son, Gage with a Hurt Lock and the issue hasn’t been sorted out yet, so at a PPV where rules are out of the window, it’s very likely that Golberg could get involved in this fight…and that would certainly makes it an even spicier watch!
