UFC 272 went down from inside the T-Mobile Arena and it was worth the hype. In the main event of the night, Colby Covington defeated Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision after 25 minutes of action. Whereas, in the co-main event Rafael dos Anjos dominated the late replacement Renato Moicano to earn a win on all of the judges’ scorecards.

Here are some of the highlights from UFC 272:

Going into the fight, the TrailBlazer needed a win badly after going winless in his last three fights. In the fight, Holland secured a second-round technical knockout win over Alex Oliviera which was the only KO of the night and also helped him bank an additional $50,000 for his performance of the night award. The craziest moment of this fight came in round 1 where Oliviera had locked in a rear-naked choke but Holland remained calm and was seen smiling with his thumbs in the air before getting out of the submission.

Bryce Mitchell proved to the world that he’s a real deal in the Featherweight division with his biggest win to date at UFC 272. Taking on one of the most feared strikers in the entire roster, Edson Barboza, Mitchell did extremely well with his wrestling and grappling that grounded the Brazilian in all three rounds. When the 15-minute mark got over, Mitched won on a unanimous decision with the judges scoring 30-25, 30-26, and 30-27 on all three cards as he remained undefeated in the UFC.

▶ RDA’s still got it!

Rafael dos Anjos battered Renato Moicano in the co-main event of UFC 272 to get away with a decision victory. From the start of the fight, RDA was sharper, mixing in solid striking with takedowns and devastating ground and pound. In the final round of the fight, Moicano had a huge cut on his forehead, with the doctor telling him to stop the fight but Moicano did not want to stop and made a late charge landing flurry of punches but nowhere near to avoid the decision loss as the judges scored 49-45, 49-44, and 50-44 on all three cards.

Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal were once close friends before their relationship soured and in the main event of UFC 272, this rivalry came to an end with Covington grinding his way to a unanimous decision victory with judges scoring 49-46, 50-44, and 50-45 on all three cards. Masvidal opened the fight with a flying kick, but the two slowed their pace into a more technical approach as the fight carried on. Covington slowly worked on his takedown attempts and eventually took him down, taking the back and working into dominant positions. From there on, the fight remained in Covington’s hand as the Gamebred could do nothing to out-do Chaos in grappling. Masvidal’s only moment came in round 4 where he landed a crushing right hand that caused Covington to stumble backward and take a knee. This was Masvidal’s moment to capitalize but unfortunately, he had no energy left after 4 rounds of intense grappling.
