Chris Weidman shatters his right tibia after Uriah Hall checked his leg kick at UFC 261.
The fight between Weidman and Hall was a rematch to Weidman’s first-round KO win at Combat Banner way back in 2010. The match was instantly called off and was ruled off as a TKO win for the Primetime, in just seventeen seconds of the first round, after the former middleweight champion got his right leg shattered as Uriah Hall checked his leg kick.

Everyone in the stadium, fans watching at home, and even his opponent Hall were in shock after looking at Weidman’s broken leg. Hall showed the world his act of class after the match as he said, “I got nothing but respect for Chris Weidman. He is truly one of the best. It is a crazy story that he was the first man I fought that defeated me and introduced me to fear. I didn’t know what fear was and during that time we went different paths. He was the first one to defeat Anderson [Silva], I was the last. It’s just crazy how we ended up here again. I wanted to put on a great performance but I just wish him and his family well. “It’s the sucky part of this sport, it’s the hurt business but I have nothing bad to say about him. I hope he can come back from it. You are still the best, Chris.”

As for Chris, his wife posted a picture on Instagram that said, “My heart breaks for my husband because I know the work and dedication that he puts into his training every day and the great man that he is, so I only want the best for him. While this absolutely sucks in the moment and for some weeks to come, we are completely overwhelmed by the love and support we have far and wide and are very aware how blessed we are. All of that overpowers the awfulness of this situation. We are blown away by our friends and family offering to hop on flights to come help us without hesitation. We are so grateful and love you all!! It’s been a crazy year so far but us Weidman’s are a force and covered in Grace and Mercy every day! We were reminded this year how precious each day is and I am so thankful to be spending another day on earth next to my love even if it’s in a hospital room far from home.”
The sad ironic part of the whole story is that Weidman scored an exactly similar TKO victory over UFC great Anderson Silva back in 2013.
