With seven Indian players starting every game, the 2021-22 season of the Hero Indian Super League has seen a lot of homegrown players leaving a mark on the tournament. As the current season is approaching its business end, here’s a look at five of the best Indian players so far in this edition of the Hero Indian Super League.

Naorem Roshan Singh has been a rock-like figure when it comes to defending and the exact opposite when it comes to attacking. The Bengaluru FC defender offers both wing-back positions to the side and after 14 appearances this season, the 23-year-old has bagged 6 assists (most assists by an Indian this season) and scored a crucial goal for the Blues in the win against Kerala Blasters FC.

4. Prabhsukhan Singh Gill – Kerala Blasters FC

Kerala Blasters FC currently sit third on the table with just 3 losses all season. Most of that credit goes to their 21-year-old goalkeeper, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill. After twelve appearances, Gill has managed to keep five clean, some of them being against top goal-scoring sides such as Odisha FC, Hyderabad FC, and Mumbai City FC making a total of 27 saves this season.

3. Manvir Singh – ATK Mohun Bagan

One player who has hit the ground running this season is ATK Mohun Bagan’s Manvir Singh who is causing madness down the right wing. In the 15 appearances Singh has made this season, he’s bagged one assist and five goals including a brace against FC Goa which helped The Mariners maintain their spot in the championship playoffs.

2. Bipin Singh – Mumbai City FC

Bipin Singh has been a key player n the Islanders squad since joining the side back in 2018, who can forget his stoppage time winner last season that crowned Mumbai as the winners of ISL 2020-21. The 26-year-old left winger has continued his run of form as he currently finds himself with five goals and 3 assists after 16 appearances. Singh’s partnership with Angulo upfront has been exceptional this season which has helped Mumbai on multiple occasions as they have their eyes set on defending the title.

Since joining The Mariners earlier this season, 23-year-old Liston Colaco has established himself as a regular starter in a star-studded ATK Mohun Bagan side, appearing in all 15 games, scoring seven goals and providing three assists. With more game time this season, the Goan has proved his mettle with his silky dribbles down the left channel and has truly been a player reborn this season. With plenty of games still to play, Liston will be looking to add to his goal contributions and help his side reach the top of ISL.
