Previously, we discussed who the best wingers in PL history are and how the role of a winger has changed over the years. With that in mind, today at Man’s life we have come up with a list of the top five Premier League wingers in the current PL squad. So without further ado, let’s have a look at the list.

5. Jarred Bowen, West Ham

At #5 we have West Ham’s Jarred Bowen who has been in sensational form this season. One of the key reasons why the Hammers find themselves in the race for the top 4 is because of the sheer skill, speed, and passing ability of Bowen. In the 22 matches West Ham have played this season, the 25-year-old winger has managed to bag himself up with six goals and seven assists which are pretty high for West Ham standards and has brought him into the limelight of England’s manager Gareth Southgate. Although it would be difficult for Bowen to make it the England squad due to the depth they have in that position, but if he continues this run of form, who knows what could happen

4. Bukayo Saka, Arsenal

Up next, we have Arsenal’s 20-year-old wonderkid Bukayo. The left-footer’s primary position is to play as a right-winger in the Gunners squad but can also play as a left-winger if needed. Saka has a total of 20 appearances this season and finds himself with six goals and four assists! Some stat for a 20-year-old kid. Every time Saka’s on the pitch for Arsenal, the side looks like a real counter-attacking threat. With the likes of young players like Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, one can easily say that the future of Arsenal Football Club is in safe hands.

3. Sadio Mane, Liverpool

There is no surprise top Sadio Mane is on the list of the current best PL wingers. Since joining Liverpool from Southampton, Mane has been a key player in the Liverpool squad that won the Champions League in 18/19 and the Premier League in 19/20. In the 244 matches he has played for Liverpool, the Senegalese international has managed to score 107 times. The Liverpool number 10 had a poor 20/21 season scoring just eleven goals and providing seven assists in 35 appearances but he has managed to bounce back off that poor form with him currently having scored eight goals with one assist at the halfway mark of the season.

2. Raheem Sterling, Manchester City

It’s season after season that we find Raheem Sterling’s name in the list of the current best Premier League wingers and there is no surprise that he makes it to the list again. Sterling, who is in his fifth season at Manchester City has a total of 123 goals playing as a winger. At the start of the 21/22 season, there were rumors running around that Sterling might leave Manchester City but these rumors didn’t back the England international down as after 18 matches this season, Sterling has scored on seven occasions and provided one assist from the left flank. Sterling has done really well this season and as a reward, he now has become a regular starter for the champions benching players like Jack Grealish and Phil Foden who play in similar roles.

1. Mohamed Salah, Liverpool

Looking at the statistics, some would easily agree that Mo Salah is one of the best wingers in PL history. Last season, despite Liverpool struggling to win games, the Egyptian always found himself on the scoresheet and also became the 5th fastest player to score 100 goals (162 games). Well, breaking the record has become a thing for Liverpool’s number 11 as this season he has taken himself to the next level. After just 20 games he has played this season, Mo Salah has scored 16 goals and provided 9 assists and in the process also became the highest-scoring African player in the Premier League, taking over a title which was previously held by Didier Drogba, who was a striker! If Mo Salah continues this run of form going into the second half of the season, we might witness him break the record for most goals scored in a single season which was set by him in his first season with Liverpool.
