Erling Haaland will be an acceptable response given he has scored 25 goals and four hat-tricks in half a season, but Martin Odegaard has taken his game to a different level this campaign and taken Arsenal to the top of the table. The Norwegian has added output to his game, is tireless without the ball, and is the creative hub of the best team in the country.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Sven Botman, Gabriel Jesus, and Casemiro all have great cases, but there can only be one signing of the season. Erling Haaland has redefined what strikers are capable of in the Premier League and dominated defenders in a way no other forward has in England in their maiden campaign. The Norwegian phenom has been ultra-clinical in front of goal and has terrorized opposition with his speed, physicality, and unrivalled movement in the penalty box.

Erling Haaland is technically still eligible for this accolade, but Bukayo Saka has been flawless for Arsenal in their quest for the league title. The English winger’s meteoric rise has been inevitable, and the 21-year-old has been the creative fulcrum of the league-leaders in the first half of the season. Saka has started every league game for Arsenal so far this season, scoring seven goals, and has tormented full-backs with his technical genius and craft.

Any of Nottingham Forrest’s 438 signings in the summer are applicable but it’s difficult to look away from Chelsea’s late move for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. From spending over 10 million on an Arsenal outcast forced out the door six months earlier to sacking the manager who pushed for the deal ten days later, everything about this move screamed bust.

Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford scored wonder goals for their clubs over the weekend, but Mohamed Salah’s winner against Manchester City at Anfield stands out as one of the most iconic strikes of the season so far. After missing a handful of chances, the Egyptian collected Alisson’s laser-perfect pass, spun Joao Cancelo before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Arsenal’s 3-2 victory with Manchester United and Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds United have been some of the standout games so far this Premier League season. However, the real game of the season will be played on the 15th of February when Manchester City visit the Emirates Stadium to take on Mikel Arteta’s side.
