Man’s Life Premier League 2021-22 Team Of The Week 26

It was a whirlwind weekend of action in the Premier League with plenty of spectacular goals, last-minute winners and electrifying end-to-end contests. Manchester United edged out rivals Leeds United in a six-goal thriller at Elland Road while Harry Kane scored a 95th-minute winner for Tottenham to give Spurs a 3-2 victory at the home of the champions.

Here is our Man’s Life Premier League team of the week.

PL TOTW_Week 26

GK: Jose Sa (Wolves) 

Jose Sa continued his brilliant form for Wolves in front of goal, making six saves against Leicester to help Bruno Lage’s side extend their impressive run in the Premier League and complete a 2-1 win over the Foxes. 

RB: Valentino Livramento (Southampton)

After spending a brief spell on the sidelines, Valentino Livramento returned to the starting lineup for Southampton and provided another reminder of his world-class ability as the Englishman dominated the right-flank against Everton and provided the assist for Shane Long’s goal with an excellent delivery. 

CB: Cristian Romero (Tottenham)

Despite conceding a penalty in the 90th minute, Cristian Romero produced a performance of the ages for Tottenham in their 3-2 win over the champions, defending valiantly and finishing the match with seven clearances and four blocks & interceptions.

CB: Harry Maguire (Manchester United)

Harry Maguire silenced his doubters in emphatic fashion this weekend as the centre-back scored Manchester United’s first Premier League goal from a corner this season at Elland Road and defended astutely to help the Red Devils take all three points against Leeds United.

LB: Joao Cancelo (Manchester City)

Despite coming out on the losing side, Joao Cancelo caused Tottenham plenty of problems throughout the 90 minutes, completing the most dribbles (5) in the match and taking five shots from left-back.

RM: Jadon Sancho (Manchester United)

Jadon Sancho has finally started to show glimpses of his Borussia Dortmund form for Manchester United, and the right-winger supplied two assists in a promising all-round performance for the Red Devils against Leeds United.

CM: Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)

Jordan Henderson was back to his faultless best in Liverpool’s routine 3-1 win over Norwich, completing 106 of his 109 passes in the game and supplying the assist for Luis Diaz’s maiden goal for the Reds in the second half.

CM: James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

James Ward-Prowse delivered another midfield masterclass for Southampton against Everton as the Englishman created the most chances (4) in the game and dominated Donny van de Beek and Allan in the middle of the park.

LM: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham)

Heung-Min Son continued his stunning form against Manchester City as the Korean forward exploited the league leaders’ weaknesses on the counter-attack and supplied a goal and assist in Tottenham’s stunning 3-2 win at the Etihad.

ST: Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Harry Kane put in one of the best centre-forward performances in the Premier League in recent history as the Englishman tore the Manchester City defence to shreds with his movement and creativity, scoring two goals to give Tottenham a 3-2 victory at the Etihad stadium.

ST: Wout Weghorst (Burnley)

Wout Weghorst starred for Burnley in their statement 3-0 victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium as the Dutch striker scored his first goal for the Clarets before using his excellent hold-up play and strength to set up Josh Brownhill for Burnley’s second.

Manager of the week: Antonio Conte (Tottenham)

After three losses on the bounce, Antonio Conte broke Tottenham’s losing streak in style at the home of the champions as Tottenham caused Manchester City plenty of issues at the Etihad Stadium to come away with a pivotal victory that keeps their top-four hopes alive.
