Another game week of the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League comes to a close with goals flying in all the fixtures. Des Buckingham’s men look like they have finally settled into his style of playing in their emphatic win over ATK Mohun Bagan and as many as four players from the Islanders make it to the game week’s team. So without any further ado, let’s take a look at our Man’s Life ISL Team of the Week 3.

Despite ATK Mohun Bagan conceding five goals against Mumbai City FC, their goalkeeper Atmrinder Singh makes it to our team of the week. Things could’ve been worse for the side from Kolkata but thanks to Armrinder’s big saves, they limited their damage to just five goals.

LB: Ashique Kuruniyan – Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru’s Ashique Kuruniyan is finally hitting the ground this season. An 84th minute goal gave Bengaluru a lead which only lasted for 4 minutes as the goal was cancelled out by an own goal from Kuruniyan. If you leave that own goal from the 24-year-old’s performance, he was in top form against Kerala Blasters.

CB: Mourtada Fall – Mumbai City FC

The 6’2 giant wall in Mumbai’s defence did an excellent job in their match against ATK Mohun Bagan. The 33-year-old Senegalese also got on the scoresheet after a brilliant header from the back post and also squared the ball for Igor Angulo.

CB: Hector Rodas – Odisha FC

What’s better than defenders scoring goals? Well, Hector Rodas of Odisha FC did it twice in the first half of their match against SC East Bengal. Rodas was the only player to leave the pitch with a 100% shot accuracy.

RB: Naorem Roshan Singh – Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC have one of the best right-backs the country has ever seen. Naorem Roshan Singh, the 22-year-old had a passing accuracy of 81% and provided the goal for Ashique Kurniyan.

In SC East Bengal’s 6-4 loss against Odisha FC, Mohammed Rafique showed us what he’s capable of as he left the pitch with the most chances created in the match and capped off his performance with an assist.

What Toni Kroos is to Real Madrid, Ahmed Jahouh is to Mumbai City FC. The 33-year-old midfielder controlled the play with his passing and dribbling right in the middle of the pitch which created pockets of space for the Mumbai attackers to go forward.

CM: Anirudh Thapa – Chennaiyin FC

After a poor run of form, Anirudh Thapa looked like himself against Northeast United FC. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder won all his duels and had a passing accuracy of 75%. It was his 74th minute goal which kept Chennaiyin FC’s 100% record intact.

LW: Vikram Pratap Singh – Mumbai City FC

Vikram Pratap Singh is the player who’s making the most out of the new ISL rule of playing only 4 foreigners and it looks like the future of Indian football is in safe hands. The 19-year-old got his name on the scoresheet after just 4 minutes of the match and was back at it in the 25th minute marking his first ever brace.

RW: Bipin Singh – Mumbai City FC

Mumbai City FC’s hero last season was Bipin Singh and the Indian is still living up to it. The 26-year-old winger created the most number of chances (4) against ATK Mohun Bagan and bagged himself an assist and a late goal.

ST: Javi Hernandez – Odisha FC

The best foreign player in the ISL this season, without a doubt is the 32-year-old Spainard Javi Hernandez who scored an absolute banger and provided two assists which took his total tally to three goals and two assists in just two matches.

Des Buckingham is the manager of the Week for the second time in this ISL season and there is no doubt in that. His side displayed champagne football against ATK Mohun Bagan to beat them 5-1.
