It is another episode of the IPL El Classico on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium as the five-time champions Mumbai Indians take on the four-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, and our Man to Watch for this mouth-watering encounter is the Australian six-hitting sensation, Tim David!

Mumbai Indians’ season went downhill after they decided to drop Tim David in game three, but since the big-hitting Australian has returned to the side, Mumbai have been much improved as a team, winning two of their last three games. David won the Man of the Match award against Gujarat Titans for his incredible onslaught in the death overs, scoring 44 runs in 21 deliveries in a tight five-run win against the table-toppers.
Despite his limited opportunities, David has proved his worth in the five games he has played so far this season, and amongst players who have batted at least 50 balls in the IPL, the Australian has the 4th highest strike rate (180).
PLAYERS | MATCHES | RUNS | STRIKE RATE |
Dinesh Karthik | 12 | 274 | 200 |
Liam Livingstone | 11 | 315 | 184 |
Andre Russell | 12 | 281 | 183 |
Tim David | 5 | 90 | 180 |
Glenn Maxwell | 9 | 193 | 167 |
With the likes of Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma not firing, and Suryakumar Yadav out with an injury for the entire season, a lot is going to rest on David’s shoulders once again versus CSK on Thursday to ensure that the Mumbai Indians don’t suffer further disappointment in 2022 against their arch-rivals.
