Sergio Ramos joined Los Blancos as a teenager back in 2005 and has developed into one of the best defenders the sport has ever seen. After spending 16 years with the Spanish giants and scoring a total of 101 goals for Real Madrid, the Spainard has decided that he will be leaving the club this summer. Looking back at his Real Madrid career, there have been plenty of moments where he has saved the club from a defeat or helped them achieve serious silverware. So, here’s a list of Sergio Ramos’ top five moments at Real Madrid.
1. THE assist against Osasuna
Back in the 2007-08 La Liga season, Real Madrid were one of the top contenders for the title and on Matchday 35 against Osasuna, Real Madrid found themselves 0-1 down with 5 minutes on the clock plus added time. Arjen Robben scored the equaliser and in the 87th minute, Ramos had possession of the ball and burst through after exchanging a one-two with Diarra before setting it up for Gonzalo Higuain to score the winner. That incredible moment gave Real Madrid three points and helped them win the La Liga title for the second season running.

Sergio Ramos is known to be one of the best defenders in the Champions League and he went beyond his defensive prowess in the 2013-14 season when he scored a brace against Bayern Munich to secure a 4 – 0 win for Real Madrid. It was not just his two goals that earned him the Man of the Match award but it was his splendid defensive duties which helped his team keep a clean sheet against a side with one of the most lethal attacks in the sport.
3. 2008 Super Cup Final
The 2008 Super Cup final between Real Madrid and Valencia was an absolute goal fest. The first leg ended in a surprising 3-2 victory for Valencia and in the second leg, Valencia extended the lead early in the first half to take the aggregate score to 4 – 2. Ruud Van Nistelrooy pulled one back for Real Madrid from the penalty spot and then Sergio Ramos stepped up in the big moment again. His goal in the 77th minute of the game gave Madrid the lead and the momentum to go on to score two more goals in the next fifteen minutes to win the game 6-5 on aggregate.
4. 2016 Champions League Finals
Sergio Ramos is one of the greatest when it comes to stepping up and making an impact in big games. Throwback to the 2016 Champions League final and it was his header that gave Real Madrid a vital lead in the 15th minute of the game. Not just that, his defensive play was exceptional that night but Atletico somehow found a way to equalise. The game went to penalties where Sergio Ramos scored the fourth penalty before Cristiano Ronaldo hit his penalty into the net and won Real Madrid their eleventh Champions League title.

Sergio Ramos’ 93rd minute equaliser against Atletico Madrid in the 2104 Champions League Final is something no Real Madrid fan could ever forget. In the dying moments of the game, Luka Modric’s corner met the head of Sergio Ramos and the ball went through the Atletico defenders and past the keeper into the back of the net. Real Madrid then went on to win the match 4 – 1, thanks to extra time goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Marcelo. Ramos’s header was the most crucial moment in Real Madrid’s tenth UCL trophy. This event goes down as one of the best moments in Ramos’ Madrid career.
