With Liverpool and Manchester City taking each other on this weekend at Anfield, all eyes will be on Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo to bring home the points for FPL managers in Gameweek 7.
Both players are expected to be the most heavily captained assets this weekend, and they lead the line together in our best team for FPL Gameweek 7.
GK: Aaron Ramsdale (ARS) – 4.5m
Aaron Ramsdale has earned Mikel Arteta’s trust and secured the No.1 role with his excellent performances since coming into the side. Ramsdale has conceded only one goal in three games for the Gunners and faces a Brighton side this weekend who are in the bottom five for xG created so far this season.
DEF: Marcos Alonso (CHE) – £5.8m
Chelsea have an excellent fixture this week at home to Southampton, and Marcos Alonso is currently the second-highest scoring defender in the game with four clean-sheets, one goal and one assist so far this season.
DEF: Nelson Semedo (WOL) – £4.9m
Wolves have been extremely secure defensively this season – conceding only 6 big chances in six games – and a home fixture against Newcastle allows Semedo to build on his strong start to the season.
DEF: Andreas Christensen (CHE) – £5.0m
With Chelsea’s taking on a struggling Southampton side this week, doubling up on their defenders could be a highly-rewarding strategy. Andreas Christensen has started five out of six games for the Blues this season, and Tomas Tuchel’s side are the bookies to keep a clean sheet this weekend.
MID: Bruno Fernandes (MUN) – £11.9m
Despite missing a penalty in Gameweek 6, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes is still on penalties for Manchester United – making the Portuguese an attractive option for Gameweek 7 for his fixture at home to Everton.
MID: Bukayo Saka (ARS) – £6.3m
Bukayo Saka registered a goal and an assist for Arsenal against Tottenham on matchday 6, and his eight shots in the box in the last three Gameweeks is third amongst all midfielders.
MID: Raphinha (LEE) – £6.1m
Raphinha has been a class apart amongst budget midfielders this season and has been extremely unlucky not to score more points in the past few weeks. Raphinha has recorded 19 big chances in 24 appearances in 2021 and has an excellent fixture against Watford in Gameweek 7.
MID: Ismaila Sarr (WAT) – £6.3m
Ismaila Sarr is the third-highest points scoring midfielder in the game, and after scoring 24 points in his last two fixtures, the Senegalese could be amongst the points once again in Gameweek 7 against a Leeds United team that have conceded the 2nd most goals so far this season.
FWD: Romelu Lukaku (CHE) – £11.7m
Romelu Lukaku has played every minute of the last five league games for Tomas Tuchel’s Chelsea and has registered a team-high 15 shots and 14 shots in the penalty area since his debut in Gameweek 2.
FWD: Cristiano Ronaldo (MUN) – £12.7m
Cristiano Ronaldo has five goals in five appearances for Manchester United since his return to the club, and has averaged an impressive seven points per game this season ahead of his home fixture against Everton this weekend.
FWD: Michail Antonio (WHU) – £8.0m
Michail Antonio has nine-goal involvements – five goals and four assists – since the start of the season and has failed to score only once so far this season, making him a nice differential captaincy choice for this week’s fixture versus Brentford.
Captaincy Pick
Strikers Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo are the two standout options this week, but the Belgian slightly edges out the Portuguese due to Everton’s stronger defensive numbers this season. Ronaldo also will not be on penalties for United which gives Lukaku the higher points ceiling for this week.
