After the long and arduous international break, Fantasy Premier League finally returns with Gameweek 4, and there are plenty of exciting matches to look forward to this weekend. Cristiano Ronaldo is all set to make his second Manchester United debut at home to Newcastle while Chelsea and Romelu Lukaku take on Aston Villa at home, and here are our best FPL picks for Gameweek 4.
GK: Robert Sanchez (BHA) – £4.5m
Brighton have conceded the fourth-least Expected Goals from open play this season – making Robert Sanchez a viable option in goal for their fixture against newly-promoted Brentford.
DEF: Luke Shaw (MUN) – £5.5m
Luke Shaw registered his first clean sheet of the season in Gameweek 3, and the most popular defender in the game is another must-have for fantasy managers this weekend for United’s favourable fixture against Newcastle at Home.
DEF: Kieran Tierney (ARS) – £4.9m
Despite Arsenal’s shaky start to the season, Kieran Tierney is an outstanding option for FPL managers as the Gunners take on Norwich at home. Tierney created six chances and attempted 11 crosses in the box in Arsenal’s game against Brentford and is heavily involved in their attacking play down the left-hand side.
DEF: Marcos Alonso (CHE) – £5.7m
Chelsea are the bookies favourite to keep a clean sheet this weekend, making Marcos Alonso an attractive prospect in defence. Alonso is the most attacking option amongst the Chelsea defenders and has already scored one goal and managed eight key passes in three league games this season.
MID: Bukayo Saka (ARS) – £6.3m
Another Arsenal player who could be an excellent asset to own this week is Bukayo Saka. Saka managed a goal and an assist for England against Andorra over the international break and is an exciting differential option with only 7.5% ownership for Arsenal’s home tie against a newly-promoted Norwich.
MID: Mohamed Salah (LIV) – £12.5m
Mohamed Salah is currently the most popular player in FPL, and with ten shots and ten chances created in three league games so far this season, his consistency makes him impossible to ignore for FPL managers.
MID: Kai Havertz (CHE) – £8.3m
Despite Lukaku’s arrival, Kai Havertz has often played as a centre forward with the Belgian shifting to the right-wing so far this season and could be an explosive option this weekend against Aston Villa. Havertz opened his account in Gameweek 3 with an excellent goal against Liverpool and could profit this week against an Aston Villa side who will be without their number one goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
MID: Mason Greenwood (MUN) – £7.7m
Mason Greenwood has found the back of the net in each of the three PL fixtures to start the season and offers excellent value at his price of £7.7m. The 19-year-old has managed seven shots in the box and created four chances so far this season and is likely to get in on the action once again this week as United take on Newcastle at home.
FWD: Michail Antonio (WHU) – £7.9m
Michail Antonio is the man of the moment in the Premier League after returning three double-digit hauls in the opening three weeks of the season. Antonio already has 4 goals and 4 assists so far this season and is as close to a must-have asset in the game as West Ham take on Southampton this weekend.
FWD: Cristiano Ronaldo (MUN) – £12.5
Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the Premier League this weekend and couldn’t have asked for a better opening fixture than Newcastle at home. Although there are some doubts over whether Ronaldo is fit to start this fixture, the goal-machine is hard to ignore for fantasy managers given his immense pedigree and goal-scoring record.
FWD: Dominic Calvert Lewin (EVE) – £8.2m
Dominic Calvert Lewin offers excellent value at his price and has an excellent fixture this week at home to Burnley. The Englishman has scored in each of Everton’s three league games this season and has amassed the highest non-penalty xG (2.3) this season amongst all players in the league.
Captaincy Pick
The number one captaincy option this week has to be Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Portuguese is listed as the overwhelming favourite amongst bookmakers to get on the scoresheet this weekend on his homecoming for Manchester United at Old Trafford.
