Sadio Mane has completed his switch to the German Champions Bayern Munich from Liverpool. Bayern who won a record-extending tenth straight league title last season have agreed on a transfer fee of £35m pounds that goes to £40m after add-ons for the Senegal captain who had one year left on his Liverpool contract.

Sadio Mane was the first of Jurgen Klopp’s true great signings who helped the Reds kickstart the Klopp revolution. At Liverpool Mane was the perfect blend of technique, physicality and brains that has helped him thrive in three different positions at the club. In his very first season with the red, playing on the right flank Mane won the Liverpool player of the year award, became the European and Premier League champion playing on the left and last season, he played as a no. 9 and scored goals for fun.

In his 269 appearances for the Merseyside club, Mane scored a total of 160 goals and provided 48 assists. He didn’t get the Champions League win last season which would have made it a perfect ending, but he departs the club as a Legend and will always be adored at Anfield.

Mane to Bayern: The Deal Structure

Bayern are getting one of the best wingers in the world right now, that too at a knock-down price. Liverpool receive a fixed fee close to £30m for Mane with a further £5m add-on based on the number of appearances he makes in the coming season. Along with that, Liverpool could also receive another £3m based on individual and team achievements that brings the total deal close to £41m.

Mane has signed a three-year contract at Bayern that will keep Senegalese international with the German champions until the summer of 2025. Reports suggest that Mane could be earning somewhere around the range of £13m-£14m a year that is double of what Liverpool were paying him and it also makes him one of the highest earners at the Allianz Arena.

Mane on signing for Bayern, “I’m very happy to finally be with FC Bayern in Munich. We had a lot  of talks and I felt the great interest of this big clun from the start. So there was no doubt in my mind from the start; this is the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club, also internationally. During my time in Salzburg I followed many FC Bayern games – I like this club very much”
