Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant will go head-to-head in front of a packed crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in a 168-pound showdown for the undisputed Super Middleweight championship.
On November 6th, Canelo Alvarez who holds the WBA, WBO, WBC championship will take on Caleb plant who holds the IBF title in a four-belt super-middleweight unification bout. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez who has held the WBA and WBC championship for quite a while added the WBO title to his collection in his most recent fight where he left Billy Joe Saunders eye shut for a doctor’s stoppage win back in May. Whereas his opponent, Caleb Plant has held the IBF title since winning the belt against Jose Uzcategui which he won on the judges’ scorecards, and since then he has gone on to defend his title three times.
The unification bout was set to take place in September but after multiple failed negotiations, both sides came to terms to make the fight official for November.

Since signing the bout, Bad blood has built between the two sides on social media as well as a scuffle at a press conference last month. After a staredown, Canelo pushed Plant and the IBP titleholder tried to respond with a couple of punches, but the Mexican showed that he has been practicing well when he ducked those punches to land a hook which resulted in Plant leaving with a cut under his eye.

Caleb plant will most likely lean forward with his hands low, as Canelo will look for the headshot but the American boxer has a good defense to avoid those attacks and counter-attack them. But the #1 pound-for-pound fighter is so good that we don’t see him falling for this trap and will use his quick movement to get on the inside of the ring and close the gap between him and his opponent. Once the gap is close, Alvarez has a huge advantage as there are hardly any fighters who have the ability to stand so close to the Mexican and avoid any punches coming at them. I think Canelo will catch Plant in the corners and start landing some body shots before landing a final blow to put the fight to bed.

The former two-weight World Champion, Andre Ward who has trained with Plant in the past reckons that Plant has what it takes to knock Canelo out. He said, “ I think he’s (Plant) physically strong. I just think it’s always crazy until you do it. It’s easy for the fans to choose – the easy pick is Canelo because of his history and everything he accomplished but I’ll support Caleb, win, lose or draw. But I think he has a great opportunity to go out there and shock the world. He just needs to put his mental on and make it happen”
