Instead of the usual TLC PPV this year, the WWE has decided to host a new special which will take place on New Year’s Day, January 1st, 2022 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
After a lot of ongoing decisions about WWE’s TLC PPV, the board has decided that the event is canceled and that the company is looking at holding a special event to open 2022. It will be the first time that WWE is hosting a pay-per-view event on New Year’s Day which will be titled “Day 1”.
As a result of Day 1, there will be no pay-per-view events for the month of December with all focus shifting towards the Weekly Raw and SmackDown shows that will focus only on building up to the big Jan 1 event.
Possible matches at DAY 1:
▶ Big E vs Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens vs Bobby Lashley – WWE Championship

WWE Championship holder Big E could have a tough job on defending his title on New Year’s as he could face some top opponents in a fatal-4-way match. Seth Rollins, who won a ladder match on Raw guaranteed himself with a title shot who was later joined by Kevin Owens who entered into the match with regards to his ongoing feud with the champion. Bobby Lashley was angry after being left out of the picture and went on to beat Owens, Rollins, and the Champ in one night to make his way into the fight.
▶Roman Reigns VS Brock Lesnar – Universal Championship

Since Brock Lesnar’s return to WWE, he has been in a constant feud with the Head of the Table and it is very much possible that we see a title showdown on Day 1 for the Universal Championship.
On Dec 3, Reigns manipulated Sami Zyan to take a title shot at Reigns, with Lesnar getting a title shot at the winner on Day 1. Just to ensure that Zyan loses, Lesnar took him out before his fight with Reigns which ensured Lesnar his rematch. But things could fall apart at any time due to Lesnar attacking WWE Official Adam Pearce.
▶ Edge vs The Miz

When Edge spoke to the audience on his next potential opponent, he listed a lot of fighters but left the Miz out of it which unsurprisingly brought out Miz. The Missionary Mike was given an opportunity then and there which he turned down but the two eventually agreed to a Day 1 bout and Miz confirmed the fight by hitting Edge with a Skull-Crushing Finale to spice things up.
