A handy guide to help you pick the perfect frame for your mug
You loved your best mate’s new, slick sunglasses. You order a similar one online. Upon delivery, you realise it’s either too big/small or just not right. Well, thank God, you can return/exchange them!
Sunglasses are absolute must-haves for men: It not only protects your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun, but also hides your hangover eyes or dark circles while out in public. So, it helps to know the kind of sunglasses that will flatter your face shape the best. The right ones will highlight your best features and take the focus away from the not-so flattering bits on your face. In addition, it immediately spruces up even the most basic of outfits! Here’s how you can find the ideal pair for your face shape….
FRAMES FOR EVERY FACE SHAPE
There are a few simple guidelines for identifying the general shape of your face and the types of frames that are most likely to compliment your features. As a general rule, the shape of your sunglasses should be opposite to the shape of your face, creating a balance—by either softening harsh features or creating definition.
With a nicely squared-off jaw, the width and length of the head is nearly identical. Not a bad look for a guy at all! Think, actor Shahid Kapoor. Look for sunglasses that will not make your face look boxy. Shades with a little curve or slant, a little more horizontal than vertical streamlining—are your best bet.
The best styles for you: Circular frames such as a John Lennon-style vintage pair, aviators and clubmasters. Green lenses in amber frames or pale grey-blue lenses in tortoiseshell look great on square faces.
Keep away from: Sharp/angular geometric shapes and oversized frames.

The length and width of this face type is equal and similar to that of a square face. The chin is rounded with no hard lines or angles. Think, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. To make your cheeks appear slimmer, choose a style with a strong brow line in a size that is slightly wider than the head itself. Rectangular frames will help to elongate your temples and lengthen your face, adding definition to your round features.
The best styles for you: Wayfarers, clubmasters and square-shaped aviators with rounded edges.
Keep away from: John Lennon-style circular frames.

Think of this like an inverted triangle, albeit softer. The wider forehead tapering towards a pointed chin, but the shape is a little rounder around the jawline. Ex-American President Barack Obama, actors Leonardo DiCaprio or Arjun Rampal all are members of the heart-shaped face club! Look for frames that will draw attention downward to elongate your face and contour your chin.
The best styles for you: Round frames and teardrop aviators, as they will add some weight to the lower half of your face.
Keep away from: Anything too wide at the top or heavy.

Your face is longer than it is wide, and the lines of your jaw and cheekbones are relatively rounded, like actors Ben Affleck and Akshay Kumar. Look for frames that divide and balance that long, narrow plane.
The best styles for you: Oversized round or square glasses or classic wayfarers.
Keep away from: Small round lenses and teardrop frames.

Length and width are pretty similar, but the cheekbones are more pronounced, and the jaw, well-defined—like actor Hrithik Roshan—so easy on the eyes! This face shape is all about sharper angles. Most styles work on you, especially one with a strong brow-line that will cut throw the sharpness of your chiselled jawline.
The best styles for you: Double-bridged sunglasses, round and rectangular frames.
Keep away from: Square-shaped glasses.

We saved the best for the last. If your face is slightly longer than it is wide with a gently curved chin, you have an oval face. If you’re blessed with this classic symmetrical face; you can wear them all. Actors like Christian Bale, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, George Clooney and more fall under this category.
The best styles for you: Anything you want. Really!
Keep away from: Frames with arms that hang too low, as this will elongate the face further.
