The world could use a lot more kindness, and so could we!
To call the last 18 months hard, will be a gross understatement! We are all still coping. Some days are extra stressful and filled with anxiety. While it’s in human nature to look out for others, it’s OKAY and IMPORTANT to take a step back and direct the attention to yourself. There’s no sugar coating it: Life is tough even on regular days. All the more reason why we should start being kind to ourselves.
It’s World Kindness Day on November 13th, and we at Man’s Life decided to put together a few ways you can start being kind to yourself. You deserve it. We all do!
Living a balanced life is important. While the line between work and pleasure have been blurred, it’s okay to take some time out for yourself. Maybe a day of social media detox or even cooking your favourite meal. Do things that make you happy for yourself!
It’s pretty common to have intrusive thoughts while working. What you make of it is what matters. Negative self-talk hurts you in the long run, and can slowly eat into your confidence. You need something that lifts your spirits. Consciously start avoiding self-deprecating talks. Instead, focus on a positive thing about yourself or something you did!
Just like how you would offer a shoulder to your best friend, present yourself with that opportunity too. Start being considerate towards yourself and become aware of what affects you. Show yourself some self-love.
The pandemic hasn’t been easy on our bodies and has been worse on our minds. It has taken a toll on our mental health affecting the way we function. If you don’t feel like yourself, do not hold yourself back from asking for help. There is no shame in being vulnerable, it doesn’t make you less of a person, it in fact makes you a human, who wants to take care of himself/herself.
You as an individual deserve the same respect you bestow on others. Treat yourself the way you would treat others—with respect. Don’t undermine your needs and hold yourself to high standards.
A piece of advice that will help you, in the long run, is to be your own BFF. To support and love yourself, like you would a friend! Show yourself some kindness, support, encouragement and love, and see yourself thrive!
Don’t be ashamed to show yourself some love and kindness. You, your body and your mind have helped you go through an entire pandemic, you deserve the self-love and pampering. They say, an act of kindness can make the world a better place, imagine what it can do to you?
