Every few years, the fashion of the past makes a comeback. Most we like, some we wonder why? Whatever the trend may be, there is always somebody out there who loves it. One trend that’s booming on its re-entry to the fashion circles is ‘going big’. Oversized jackets have made the cut too! Brands have it on runways and we have Bollywood celebrity stylists make the industry’s fashion-forward men, wear them with swagger! Well, we aren’t complaining.

HOW TO STYLE IT?
The oversized jackets have been trending since the 1950s and seeing it make a comeback this Fall has been nothing, but exciting. Go big or go home, just seems to be the right slogan for these fits. For those who love things big, we got you covered. Here are different oversized jackets to pick and choose from.
▶ THE OVERSIZED VARSITY JACKET

Ever watched the Netflix show Riverdale or its poster and tripped on the panelled jacket worn by Archie Andrews? You are not alone. He can be seen wearing a varsity jacket, and if that’s caught your fancy, you have great taste, buddy! The varsity jacket, also called the letterman jacket, is a rage with its oversize silhouette and we can’t get enough of it.
PRO TIP: A varsity jacket is best worn with jeans and a simple tee. What will set you apart is wearing really funky sneakers with them and a cool bucket hat.

PRO TIP: Pick a safari jacket in an unusual colour of mauve or pink to pair with chinos and a tee. Steer away from the usual khaki and olive green to add a splash of colour to your closet.
▶ THE OVERSIZED TRENCH COAT
A jacket that trumps any other jacket has to be the trench coat. We know, we wrote about overcoats and this is one too, but a trench coat requires a special mention. This long coat is a dream for those who live and breathe fashion. The trench coat originally made by Burberry (for which we may or may not have to sell a kidney for), has thankfully, been adopted by many affordable high-street brands. Change the fit a bit and you get an oversized trench coat. Wear one to instantly become a fashion icon!
PRO TIP: A trench coat looks best over formal wear, but we can experiment with an oversized trench coat! Wear your trench coat over cropped trousers and a polo tee, finish the look with loafers and you will be serving people a sophisticated fall 2021 look.
