It’s never too late to wear corduroy!
Autumn is on its way, and that means a change of clothes is in order. The length will be longer, layers will be many, and the fabric, different. Corduroy has been, is and will always be a seasonal favourite. It is one of the most underrated fabrics to be found in someone’s closet.
Today, we decided to take our corduroy pants out of our wardrobes and take them for a stylish spin. Corduroy pants are comfortable and add just the right amount of panache to your everyday outfit. Move over jeans and chinos because the corduroy pants are here to stay! They come in multitudes of styles and colours and are a welcome change to your otherwise boring bottom wear. Worried about how to style it? Fear not we at Man’s Life have got you covered. Let’s go!
Yes, you can go about wearing it with a formal shirt, but having it paired with a casual shirt elevates your outfit. This laid back look is an ideal match for brunch and casual dates. Wear loose fit corduroy pants with a shirt and pair them with some loafers. Add a satchel for some extra drip.
Corduroy as a fabric has a distinctive tactile texture to it. It’s raised and the look is uniform across the fabric. Corduroy pants are generally made without patches or rips, and might seem boring to some. Adding a plain tee with a dramatic jacket or even a printed overcoat is a fun way of spicing up your corduroy pants.
When it gets chilly around the cities during this time of the year, your knits are out of the bag. Be it ribbed sweaters or knit pullovers, they make a staple in your autumn/winter wear rotation. Wearing corduroy pants with knits is in fact a fashionable choice to make. You can swap the pullover for a sweatshirt and still rock it with the corduroy pants. Pair some funky sneakers with it and add those glares and you are good to go!
It’s a misconception to believe that you can wear only oversized tracks and shorts to make an outfit streetwear worthy. Streetwear is just casual comfortable pieces paired with sneakers and caps, hoodies and tees. Swap your jeans and tracks for some corduroy pants, pair it with a hoodie and some crazy sneakers. Add a baseball cap and hope some street-style photographer finds you lens worthy!
Shirts are an instant way of turning things formal. If you want to make your outfit look more business casual, pair your corduroy pants with a polo tee. Style straight-fit pants with a polo tee, tuck it in, add a belt and finish off with a watch and some brogues.
While most of the looks discussed are casual and more fun, we can make corduroy pants look serious too. It all depends on how you dress and what you choose to wear. Adding a blazer over your tee and corduroy pants is a formal take on the otherwise casual look. For days when you want to be the star at an evening soiree, match the shade of your corduroy pants with the shade of a suit jacket (if it’s a corduroy one even better). We guarantee you will make heads turn and members of the opposite sex will be mighty impressed.
Corduroy pants are a great addition to a guy’s wardrobe. We get that denims are for days, but why be monotonous when you can be fun?
