There is no denying that ‘star kids’ have it easier than those without connections in Bollywood. That’s the truth. However, there have definitely been actors who’ve made it to the top of the Hindi film industry despite having no connections – Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut are a few names that come to mind. From the current batch of star kids, actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor has made a conscious attempt to stay away from mainstream films and go the alternative way. He made his debut with Mirzya and then starred in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero. He was recently seen in Netflix’s anthology series, Ray. The actor has now spoken up about how, no matter what he does, he’ll still be hated for being Anil Kapoor’s son.
“Because of the path that I’ve taken, with doing the alternative films and not doing the conformist, regular movies, and not being in the media too much, and doing my own thing, a lot of the people who’ve consumed my work have more of an idea of what I’m like. So I do not get as much hate. Obviously, no matter how well I do, no matter how many films I do, no matter what I achieve in life, there will be a small minority of people that will want to hate me because I’m Anil Kapoor’s son,” he told RJ Siddharth Kannan.
He went on to add that there’s nothing he can do about it and hence, he’s made peace with that fact, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor will be seen next opposite his father, Anil Kapoor, in the upcoming biopic on Abhinav Bindra.
