"In a world filled with award shows, what if an award show was actually a movie?"
So starts the “all-star cast reveal” of the 93rd Oscars starring all the presenters of the prestigious awards ceremony. In a move that is certain to boost ratings in a world where TV is trumped by social media, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has shown surprising savviness by revealing their presenters in the form of a cast-reveal which is usually reserved for big-budget movies.
The presenters of this year’s Oscars have some big names – Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Bong Joon Ho, Don Cheadle, Bryan Cranston, Laura Dern, Harrison Ford, Regina King, Marlee Matlin, Rita Moreno, Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Renée Zellweger and Zendaya. “In keeping with our awards-show-as-a-movie approach, we’ve assembled a truly stellar cast of stars. There’s so much wattage here, sunglasses may be required,” producers Jesse Collins, Stacey Sher and Steven Soderbergh said in a statement.
The Oscars are the world’s most prestigious awards ceremony where films are concerned and an Oscar is sure to change the life of any member of the film fraternity. However, the awards ceremony has been marred with controversies for a while with many claiming that it doesn’t give due credit to people of colour or women. This video is just one of the many moments that are a part of the new Academy Awards image. Take a look.
