In 2020, actor Pratik Gandhi shot to fame with his starring role in Hansal Mehta’s Scam 1992 which was based on the Harshad Mehta scandal which rocked the world of Indian finance. The actor walked away with numerous accolades and praise that is only reserved for the very best.
Now, it is being reported that the actor will be seen next in The Six Suspects where he will star opposite actress Richa Chadha who has recently been making waves for her starring role in Madam Chief Minister. “I can’t undo historical caste injustices, or brutalisation dating back thousands of years. Don’t expect me to become a scholar or expert on the subject, by acting in one film, especially when it is as vast and complicated as caste and varna. I don’t even contest the fact that my performance will never ever be able to replicate the lived experience of a DBA actor. I am aware of that and it only made me work harder,” Chadha said, responding to tweets stating that the movie stereotyped those from the Dalit community.” As someone who is an artist, who considers herself an ally, I choose to do whatever little I can, in my capacity as an individual. I have attempted to play this part with dignity, honesty and empathy. As that was frankly the only thing in my control,” she added.
Two powerhouse actors coming together for the first time is sure to create a lot of buzz. The Six Suspects will be directed by star director Tigmanshu Dhulia who was last seen in Amazon Prime Video’s Tandav.
