Actor Kangana Ranaut has been suspended from Twitter after a series of tweets on the alleged violence in West Bengal after the TMC’s win against the BJP. Ranaut had tweeted last night, asking PM Narendra Modi to unleash his “viraat roop”. “This is horrible…we need super gundai to kill gundai…she is like an unleashed monster, to tame her Modi ji please show your Virat roop from early 2000s (sic),” Ranaut had tweeted. This immediately set off speculations about what she was referring to. This is not the first time that the Manikarnika actress has made controversial statements.
Following her suspension, there was much jubilation and condemnation in equal measure from netizens. “Twitter has only proved my point they’re Americans & by birth, a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do. I have many platforms I can use to raise my voice, including my own art in the form of cinema,” Ranaut told ANI a short while after she was blocked from the microblogging site. “But my heart goes out to the people of this nation who have been tortured, enslaved, and censored for thousands of years, and still, there is no end to the suffering,” she added.
