The past week has been especially tough for the Hindi film industry when it comes to COVID-19. At the start of the week, it was revealed that actor Ranbir Kapoor and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali had tested positive for COVID-19. Alia Bhatt was asked to self-quarantine but the actress later released a statement saying that she had tested negative for the virus. Manoj Bajpayee, Tara Sutaria and Siddhant Chaturvedi had also tested positive for the novel coronavirus last week with the shooting for Bajpayee’s film, Despatch, being halted for a month.
Now, TOI reports that actor Gauahar Khan has been booked by the BMC’s K West ward for flouting COVID-19 rules. Civic officials told the newspaper that despite testing positive for the virus, Khan had stepped out to shoot. “Our staff had visited Khan’s home on March 11 and she gave an undertaking that she would not step outside the house. However, despite this we received a complaint that she was moving around putting her and others life in danger. Our staff reached her home on Sunday night and initially were informed by her husband that she is not at home and in a flat in the adjacent wing. We decided to file a police complaint accordingly,” Assistant municipal commissioner of K west ward Vishwas Mote told TOI.
“Gauahar Khan has been booked for violation of Covid-19 rules. She had tested positive and was supposed to stay at home but instead went for the film shoot,” DCP Chaitanya S said, confirming Mote’s statement.
Khan is yet to make a statement about the issue.
