2021 is going to be a super exciting year for movie buffs as not only a lot of new movies have been announced which will release this year but a lot of major films which couldn’t hit the theatres in 2020 because of the pandemic and the lockdown will make their way to the cinema halls. While some are already seeming like potential blockbusters, some are poised to elevate our cinematic experience with their content. We’ve already shared details of a few of the big-ticket movies like ’83, Laal Singh Chaddha, Atrangi Re, RRR and more in our Most Awaited Films of 2021 – Part 1 feature, in part 2 we share with you more exciting details about movies to definitely watch out for in the coming months. Whether it’s Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathan, Ranbir Kapoor’s magnum opus Bhramastra or Akshay Kumar’s last year’s release Sooryavanshi, we’ve got you covered!
1. Pathan
Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia

All movie buffs and especially Shah Rukh Khan fans are waiting with bated breath for Pathan. And why not? SRK finally breaks his three-year hiatus with this YRF film. His on-screen pairing with queen bee Deepika Padukone has always sent the cash registers ringing. Siddharth Anand is back on the director’s chair after the mega-blockbuster war and John Abraham in a baddie’s role after Dhoom… woof, we are already waiting for Diwali 2021 to arrive.
2. Bhramastra
Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia, Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy
Director: Ayan Mukerji
Now here’s a film which has been in the making for the longest time. Originally supposed to release in 2019, the film got pushed to 2020 as the VFX work demanded extra time, and then we all know what 2020 did to the movie industry. The film has finally completed its principle shooting and the heavy work on the post is going on. With the blockbuster cast and the superhero angle attached to it, Bhramstra could become one of the biggest hits of Indian cinema ever.
3. Sooryavanshi
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh
Director: Rohit Shetty
A part of hit machine Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, Sooryavanshi was all set for release just before the national lockdown was announced. The film’s trailer created massive buzz and commercial masala movie fans were eager to watch superstars Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in one frame. Oh let’s not forget the movie will also have Katrina Kaif sizzling on the remake of Tip tip barsa paani.
4. Phone Bhoot
Cast: Katrina Kaif, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ishaan Khatter
Director: Gurmeet Singh
Just the interesting casting created a heavy buzz for the film. The millennial favourites Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter teaming up with the ultimate hottie superstar Katrina Kaif… voila we might just have a winner in our hands!
5. Shamshera
Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt
Director: Karan Malhotra
Shamshera, an action period drama set in the 1800s, will see Ranbir Kapoor in a dacoit’s avatar and promises to be a huge spectacle. Director Karana Malhotra of Agneepath fame is known for presenting high octane action sequences to audiences and the fresh pairing of Ranbir and Vaani along with Sanjay Dutt joining as the antagonist has piqued everyone’s interests.
6. Jayeshbhai Jordaar
Cast: Ranveer Singh, Shalini Pandey
Director: Divyang Thakkar
After seeing him in multiple larger-than-life roles, it will be interesting to see Ranveer Singh play a sweet Gujarati man in this interesting YRF-backed film. The movie aims to send out a strong message of gender equality and Singh will be seen as a feminist in the film. South siren Shalini Pandey makes her Bollywood debut with this one.
7. Jersey
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur
Director: Gowtham Tinnauri
After the roaring and controversial success of Kabir Singh (remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy), Shahid Kapoor is all set to slay the screen in another remake. Kapoor plays the titular of a cricketer in Jersey, a remake of a Telugu film with the same title. The actor has given his all to the film and is expected to clean bowl us with his performance.
8. Badhaai Do
Cast: Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar
Director: Harshavardhan Kulkarni
Badhaai Do is the next film in the Badhaai Ho series. We all know what a wonderful film the first one turned out to be and naturally the expectations are pretty high for the second film in the franchise. Supremely talented actors Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar are teaming up for the first time, playing a cop of a women police station and PT teacher respectively. Now isn’t that the icing on the cake?
9. Bell Bottom
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi
Director: Ranjit M Tewari
Akshay Kumar is known for his sincere work ethic so we’re not surprised that he has another film coming up in 2021. In fact, Bell Bottom was the first film to start and complete the shooting during the pandemic. This spy thriller is directed by Ranjit M Tewari and will also star Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles. The film is set to release in June now.
10. Maidaan
Cast: Ajay Devgn
Director: Amit Sharma
Maidan will star Ajay Devgn in the role of a football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim. The film will bring the golden era of Indian football from 1052 to 1962 to the big screen and is slated for a 15th October 2021 release.
11. Shakun Batra’s untitled next
Cast: Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday
Director: Shakun Batra
After impressing the audience and critics with his sleeper hit Kapoor & Sons, Shakun Batra is back with another film that promises to be high on emotions and entertainment. All eyes will be on Deepika Padukone as insiders reveal hers is a role to watch out for. It’s believed her look and vibe in the film will remind people of her Cocktail avatar. Hot, right?
12. Satyameva Jayate 2
Cast: John Abraham, Divya Khosla Kumar
Director: Milap Zaveri
We loved John Abraham in the 2018 vigilante action film Satyameva Jayate and are eagerly waiting for the sequel. The film is directed by Milap Zaveri and is slated to release on 12th May 2021.
13. Sardar Udham Singh
Cast: Vicky Kaushal, Banita Sandhu
Director: Shoojit Sircar
Everybody knows revolutionary freedom fighter Udham Singh who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London to take revenge for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. Now, Vicky Kaushal will be playing the revolutionary in this Shoojit Sircar directed film which is slated for a 15th January 2021 release.
14. Dhamaka
Cast: Kartik Aryan
Director: Ram Madhvani
After delivering two back-to-back smashing successes like Neerja and Aarya, all eyes are on Ram Madhvani’s next film Dhamaka. The first look featuring lead actor Kartik Aaryan in a different look created quite a stir on social media.
15. Tejas
Cast: Kangana Ranaut
Director: Sarvesh Mewara
Get ready for another patriotic and high on action film. After the sweet success of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, we get to see another story based on a woman air force officer. Kangana Ranaut is all set to fly high in Tejas in which she plays a fierce fighter plane pilot.
