If you thought that superheroes were something that only young children obsessed over – think again. The Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe are two of the most successful and popular franchises in the world. Not only are these films major money-spinners, they also make the actors associated with these projects into the next big stars. Whether you’re Chris Evans or Scarlett Johannson, you could have been acting for years but one MCU movie and bam! You’re the hot trending topic on Twitter. Hence, we have decided to compile a list of the best superhero films you should absolutely watch.
Check out these 10 best superhero movies that you should definitely be watching:
This is the absolute best. This 2018 film broke barriers and showed that a movie with a majority of black actors could mint money at the box office. Wakanda became the stuff of dreams and a moment of pride for all black Americans. It was also one of Chadwick Boseman’s best performances.
Call us oldies but in a world that’s obsessed with Tom Holland and Zendaya, we find Spider Man 2 a special movie. Spider Man has always been one of the most relatable superheroes but Spider Man 2 showed the immense growth that this character has when he realises that with great power comes great responsibility.
Deadpool was a superhero movie on drugs. Literally. It put the fun into dysfunctional and was absolutely crazy. Ryan Reynolds made the character his own and really took a hold of what Deadpool could be.
Did you think this list was going to ignore Mr Incredible and his family? No way. These animated feature films were a crucial part of our childhood and gave us a much-needed glimpse into the ordinary lives of superheroes. It also showed us that once you accept who you are, life gets a lot simpler.
We know that Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was a massive hit and became a template of sorts for every crazy villain but Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight was sublime. The Dark Knight is The Dark Knight because of Ledger’s Joker. It’s not a film worth watching just for Batman.
Probably the most popular movie in the MCU. Years of love, heartbreak and passion came to a close with Avengers: Endgame which was a grand send-off to Iron Man – one of the most beloved superheroes of all time and of course, to the Black Widow. The climax scene still gives us chills and it’s also kind of fantastic that it gave us an idea as to how the makers were going to treat the Scarlett Witch’s character considering that she is the most powerful character in the MCU. WandaVision was a brilliant follow-up.
Wonder Woman was as good as the sequel was bad. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman saved the DC Universe which was struggling in a world where films from the MCU were ruling. The makers of Batman and Superman did not know what would work considering that the DC universe has always been darker than the MCU. Wonder Woman showed the way.
Let’s face it – Justice League was trash and we are all so glad that the Snyder cut came about to save the day. The Snyder cut was a stuff of legend even before it was released considering that no one even knew if it was real. The whispers intensified and finally, we have what we have.
Doctor Strange is an integral part of the MCU and it was the first time that the makers were dealing with outright magic instead of science or a genetic oddity. Marvel has always been particular about not getting too much into the world of spells and enchantments but they did do a good enough job with Doctor Strange.
Lastly on our list we have Thor: Ragnarok. It is a colorful cosmic adventure that sets a new standard for its franchise.
