Volkswagen Polo Legend GT TSI Edition has just been announced and, sadly it is the last hurrah for the premium hatchback from Germany. The Polo has been around in the country for the past 12 years and it has been a favourite for enthusiasts as well as regular commuters. However, changes to the Volkswagen Polo Legend GT TSI are fairly cosmetic and it will be offered in limited numbers.
Under the hood, Volkswagen Polo Legend GT TSI gets the standard 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine mated to an automatic gearbox. The engine is good to produce 110hp and 175Nm of torque, the same as the vanilla Polo GT TSI. It gets the same 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. The Polo GT TSI has been favoured by enthusiasts all over the country and is regarded as one of the few good to drive cars on the market.
The Volkswagen Polo Legend GT TSI gets only a fair few bits to differentiate it from the standard GT TSI variant. It gets new graphics on the sides, a black wrap on the roof, ‘Legend’ decals on the boot and the sides, and black trunk garnish. All of these are a part of a dealer-installed kit.
Unfortunately, the changes to the Polo Legend Edition are limited to the aforementioned exterior bits being offered by Volkswagen. It gets the regular interior styling elements as the standard GT TSI model.
Volkswagen Polo Legend GT TSI is priced at Rs. 10.25 lakh ex-showroom. As mentioned, the Legend Edition celebrates 12 years of the Polo in India and the Polo badge has now been put to rest in the country. The Legend Edition is limited to 700 units. Volkswagen Polo will finally end its 12-year rivalry stint with Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz.
