The Ingolstadt-based carmaker has officially launched its Audi e-Tron and e-Tron Sportback at Rs. 99.99 lakhs and Rs. 1.17 crores, repectively in India. The e-Tron SUV is the first electric car from a luxury carmaker to reach Indian shores. The Audi e-Tron gets sharp and edgy styling along with keeping it more conventional than wild, as was the case with the earlier concept models. For Audi, as they say, #FutureIsAnAttitude.

In India, Audi has launched two variants of the e-Tron and one variant of the Audi e-Tron Sportback. The entry-level e-Tron 50-Quattro has a combined output of 312hp, 540Nm and gets a 71.2kWh battery pack, while the e-Tron 55-Quattro makes 360hp and 561Nm in the standard drive mode, but it also gets a boost function that jack up the output to 408hp and 664Nm for a quick burst of acceleration. The e-Tron Sportback meanwhile puts out 435hp, 808Nm in the regular drive mode and 503hp, 973Nm in the boost function. Both the higher power variants of the e-Tron get a 95kWh battery pack. Audi claims that the 50-Quattro accelerates 0-100km/hr in 6.8 sec and both the other cars in 5.7 sec.

The exterior of the e-Tron is a bit like the other Audi cars, with Audi’s LED Matrix headlights and LED rear lights and dynamic front and rear indicators. At the rear end, both models get a full-width light bar connecting the LED tail lamps. Grabbing the limelight upfront is a massive, enclosed hexagonal area that mimics a standard Audi front grille. Also not to forget, Audi has also provided a charging provision on either side of the car.

Step into the vehicle and you’ll be able to identify design traits and parts shared with other Audis. The fit and finish quality of the Audi e-Tron is quite impressive. We feel that Audi has upped their game in the interior department a lot in recent times. Audi provides powered front seats with a memory feature for the driver seat. The most striking detail is the twin-screen set-up – one for the infotainment and the other for the climate control. The displays also have haptic feedback (mild vibration) when pressed which is very practical for the driver.

The Audi e-Tron is loaded with Matrix LED headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, Audi’s virtual cockpit (fully-digital instrument cluster), twin screens, four-zone climate control, adaptive air-suspension, wireless charging, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a reverse camera and much much more! The options list also features an on-board air purifier, perfume, ambient lighting with 30 color options, a 16-speaker 705W Bang and Olufsen premium surround sound system, head-up display, soft-closing doors and then some.

The all-electric SUV and SUV-coupe will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace in Indian Markets.
