Land Rover Defender 130 has recently been unveiled. The new Defender 130 is the longest iteration of the iconic SUV yet. It gets a 2-3-3 seating layout but still retains the off-road prowess of other Defender models. Land Rover will also offer a new Sedona Red colour that will be exclusive to the Defender 130, along with four-zone climate control as an optional extra.
While there is no confirmation on its India launch, expect it to also arrive on our shores since Land Rover has a history of launching all of its vehicles here. Expect it to be priced a bit more than Defender 90 and Defender 110 models, owing to its bigger size.
On the outside, the Defender 130 looks fairly similar to the rest of the Defender models. The only differentiating factor is the extended length, with the Defender 130 being 340mm longer than the Defender 110. The extra length offers 2,516 litres of boot space, with the last two rows of seats folded. Furthermore, it also gets a panoramic sunroof as standard as well as a second sunroof over the third row of seats.
Inside, the Land Rover Defender 130 gets a new 11.4-inch touchscreen system with the latest Pivi Pro software. Apart from the 2-3-3 seating layout, the interior is the same as on the rest of the Defenders.
Mechanically, the Defender 130 is the same as the Defender 90 and Defender 110. It gets an option of 2.0-litre, four cylinder petrol engine that makes 300hp and 470Nm of torque. The other petrol engine is a 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder unit that churns out 400hp and 550Nm of torque. The 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder diesel engine produces 300hp and 650Nm of torque. There is no information yet if the Defender 130 will get the plug-in hybrid electric engine options or the V8 engine. All engines get an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox paired with Land Rover’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iAWD) system.
