Kia EV6 Launched, Prices Start At Rs.59.95 Lakh

The Kia EV6 has finally been launched in India. Kia’s first electric vehicle (EV) in India will be offered in two trims — GT Line and GT Line AWD. The Kia EV6, however, will only be available in limited numbers. The Kia EV6 has also won the 2022 European Car of the Year award. 

Prices for the Kia EV6 start at Rs. 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the GT Line trim. The GT Line AWD trim is available for Rs. 64.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries are said to begin later this year. The new electric vehicle was earlier limited to 100 units nationwide, but it received 355 bookings till date. Kia mentioned that it will increase the number of deliveries to meet the demand. The deliveries will begin in September 2022. 

The Kia EV6 is based on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) architecture which is shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, due to launch in India later this year. Under the hood, it gets a 77.4 kWh li-ion battery that gets a claimed range of 528km on a single charge. The RWD trim gets a single electric motor that produces 229hp and 350Nm of torque. The AWD trim gets a dual motor setup that churns out 325hp and 605Nm of torque. 

The EV6 can be completely charged from nil using a 50kW charger in approximately 73 minutes. Meanwhile, the 350kW charger fully charges the battery in around 18 minutes. It also gets a vehicle to load feature that allows it to charge other electronic devices using a 2-way charging technology. Alongside, the EV6 also gets disc brakes all around, hill start assist, multi collision brake assist, brake assistant system, and more. 

On the inside, the Kia EV6 gets dual 12.3-inch curved displays. It also gets a 14-speaker Meridian system, a wide sunroof, driver and passenger relaxation seats, heads up display, a powered tailgate, and smart cruise control. 

Kia also mentioned that it is working on creating an India-centric EV that will be launched by 2025. The South Korean brand also mentions that its India production facilities are capable of manufacturing EVs.
