Citroen C5 Aircross has recently received a facelift globally and will launch in India by September this year. The French SUV was first launched in India last year as a semi-knocked-down unit and the facelift will receive the same treatment. With the facelift, the Citroen C5 Aircross will receive an updated design inside and out.
Mechanically, the updated Citroen C5 Aircross will retain the existing 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 177hp mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Globally, the French manufacturer has ditched the 2.0-litre diesel engine in favour of a 1.5-litre unit as well as petrol and petrol-hybrid powertrains. Since the diesel engine is the strong point of the C5 Aircross in India, Citroen will stick with the diesel powertrain in India.
With the facelift, the Citroen C5 Aircross replaces the split headlamp fascia with a more conventional looking one single unit. Now the LED lightbar DRLs are now flush with the grille and the headlamps but the Citroen chevron logo sits on top of the grille. Along with a redesigned bumper, the new C5 Aircross will also get an updated alloy wheel design. At the back, Citroen has only updated the taillamps.
It’s on the inside where Citroen has massively updated the C5 Aircross. It now sports a larger, 10-inch touchscreen. The cubed air-con vents are replaced with more conventional looking rectangular units below the screen. With 15mm more padding, the front seats of the C5 Aircross also get heating and cooling functionalities.
Citroen has managed to sell around 1,000 units of the C5 Aircross since it was launched in April 2021. To enable the sales of the C3, the upcoming C5 Aircross, and future models, the French outfit will increase its dealership network to 20 dealers across 19 cities.
