BMW i4 has made its debut in India earlier today. The electric sedan is the German brand’s second EV offering in India, following the debut of the BMW iX late last year, and will be brought to the country via the completely built unit (CBU) route. BMW claims that the i4 is the longest range EV available in India.
There will be a single variant on offer — BMW i4 eDrive 40 — and it is priced at Rs. 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). As an introductory offer, BMW will give customers a complimentary 11kW wallbox charger that can be installed at their homes. The i4 is roughly Rs. 50 lakh cheaper than the flagship BMW iX electric vehicle. It will be available in Black Sapphire, Mineral White, and Skyscraper Grey colours.
The BMW i4 gets a 80.7kWh battery that has a WLTP-certified range of 590kms on a single charge, making it the longest range EV in India at the time of writing. Using a 205kW DC fast charger, it can add 164kms of range with approximately 10 minutes of charging. Similarly, an 18 min charge using the 50kW DC charger provides 100kms of range. The basic 11kW DC charger fully juices up the i4 in 8.25 hours.
Powering the rear wheels only, the BMW i4’s electric motor generates 340hp and 430Nm of torque. It can achieve a 0-100kmph time of 5.7 seconds, as per BMW.
On the inside, the BMW i4 gets a 12-3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with iDrive 8 user interface (UI). Additionally, it also has support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The i4 also gets triple zone automatic climate control, LED ambient lighting, sunroof, reverse parking assist, and a 17-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
