As the budget keeps increasing, the choices for getting luxury cars also keep increasing. With a budget of Rs. 50 lakhs, you can get either a luxury sedan, an all-out SUV, a comfortable MPV, or even a quirky EV. Let’s talk about five of the best cars that fall under this budget.

▶ Mini Cooper SE

The only electric vehicle in this list is also the quirkiest vehicle here. Armed with a 32.6kWh battery, it has a claimed range of 270kms on a single charge. Its electric motor powers the front wheels and produces 184hp and 270Nm of torque. Although it is an electric Mini, it looks exactly like a regular Mini Cooper S but does get a set of different wheels, few exterior bits, and neon-coloured accents inside and out.

▶ Toyota Fortuner

The legendary SUV from Toyota had to make this list. Some may consider the Fortuner to be overpriced and they are not wrong. But, that has not stopped people from flocking to Toyota showrooms to get themselves one of the best off-road vehicles available in India. Under the hood, you get an option of either a somewhat lacklustre 2.7-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine or a heavy-duty 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine.

▶ Kia Carnival

The only MPV in this list is the Kia Carnival. Many may raise a hue and cry about Kia selling the older-generation of the Carnival here, but that doesn’t rob the car of its credentials as a comfortable cruiser. To be honest, it makes no sense to buy this car if you’re going to be driving it around. It is best experienced as a chauffeur-driven vehicle. If you must know, the Kia Carnival gets a 2.2-litre, turbo diesel engine under the hood.

▶ Citroen C5 Aircross

Citroen C5 Aircross is the first vehicle offered by the French brand. The new SUV gets Citroen’s well known ride quality and many have claimed that the C5 Aircross gets the best seats under the Rs. 1 crore mark in the country. It looks quirky and is quirky on the inside as well. Powering it is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine.

If you want something that is fun to drive around corners yet can be absolutely comfortable, the BMW 3 Series ticks all of those boxes. The luxury cum sports sedan from Germany gets two engine options — a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel.
