Triumph Tiger 1200 series has just been launched in India. The top-of-the-line adventure tourer series from Triumph gets four models — Tiger 1200 GT Explorer, Tiger 1200 GT Pro, Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer, and Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. The GT versions are more road-oriented motorcycles that get alloy wheels, while the Rally versions are more hardcore, off-road focussed motorcycles with wire-spoke wheels.
Prices for the Triumph Tiger 1200 start at Rs. 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom) for the GT Explorer. The Tiger 1200 GT Pro retails for Rs. 20.69 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Rally Explorer and Rally Pro are available for Rs. 20.19 lakh and Rs. 21.69 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The GT models are offered in Lucerne Blue, Sapphire Black, and Snowdonia White colours, while the Rally models can be had in Matt Khaki, Sapphire Black, and Snowdonia White colours.
Powering the Triumph Tiger 1200 is 1.2-litre inline-three cylinder petrol engine that churns out 150hp and 130Nm of torque. The Pro versions get a 20-litre fuel tank, while the Explorer versions get a 30-litre fuel tank. Triumph also mentions that the new Tiger 1200 is 25kgs lighter than its predecessor. Tailored for off-road use, the Rally models get 21-inch spoked wheels up front. On the other hand, the GT models get 19-inch alloy wheels at the front. Both models get 18-inch wheels at the back.
The Explorer versions get Triumph’s Blind Spot Radar system. The Tiger 1200 gets Showa semi-active suspension setup as well. All four models get a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and get up to six riding modes. They also get a quickshifter, hill hold, cruise control, heated grips, and keyless operation.
As for its rivals, the Triumph Tiger 1200 series will compete with the likes of the Ducati Multistrada, BMW R 1250 GS, and the Harley Davidson Pan Americana.
